Description
You will acquire advanced knowledge of the design, testing and operation of complex power engineering systems and digital control systems. The programme places particular emphasis on Industry 4.0 technologies, including advanced PLC programming, digital signal processors and the application of artificial intelligence in electrical engineering. You will learn how to optimise energy consumption, design installations for intelligent buildings and manage power quality and supply reliability on a large scale.
Admission requirements:
Applicants holding the professional title of Engineer in the relevant or related fields, as well as graduates of related fields holding the professional title of Master of Science in Engineering, are eligible for admission.
During your studies you will:
- learn to design and diagnose advanced power electronic systems and electric drives for robotics and hybrid vehicles,
- prepare to conduct energy audits and assess the energy performance of buildings,
- master computer simulation methods for dynamic systems and modelling techniques for special-purpose electrical machines,
- gain knowledge of power system protection automation and electromagnetic interference protection,
- learn to design architectural illumination systems and modern road lighting systems,
- become familiar with the operation of microgrids and the integration of renewable energy sources (RES) into power systems,
- develop programming skills for microprocessors and embedded systems used in industrial automation,
- prepare to manage engineering projects and intellectual property in the technology sector.
Selected courses:
Selected Topics in Control Theory, Power System Protection Automation, Measurement of Non-Electrical Quantities, Computer Modelling of Electromechanical Systems, Artificial Intelligence Methods, Flexible Manufacturing Systems, Power Quality Management, Power Networks and Protection Systems.
Career opportunities:
After completing this programme, you will be eligible to apply for unrestricted professional construction licences authorising the design and supervision of construction works involving electrical and power engineering networks, installations and equipment.
After graduation, you may pursue a career as:
- Chief Electrical Systems Designer – preparing design documentation for large industrial facilities and critical infrastructure,
- Energy Efficiency Manager – optimising energy consumption and costs in corporations and manufacturing plants,
- Automation and Robotics Engineer – implementing intelligent control systems based on AI algorithms and PLC technology,
- Transmission System Operator Specialist – ensuring the stability and security of the national power grid,
- Renewable Energy Expert – designing wind farms, photovoltaic installations and energy storage systems,
- Research and Development (R&D) Engineer – developing innovative solutions in research laboratories and technology development centres.
