Description

You will gain advanced knowledge of the design and operation of complex environmental engineering systems, including specialised installations and modern renewable energy sources (RES). You will master advanced trenchless technologies, pipeline rehabilitation techniques, and automation and control systems (SCADA) used in municipal and industrial engineering. The programme prepares you to perform independent technical functions and manage engineering and research teams in investment and development projects.

Admission requirements:

Applicants holding the professional title of Engineer in Environmental Engineering or graduates with an engineering degree in related fields are eligible for admission. Applicants from related fields may be required to complete curriculum differences from the first-cycle Environmental Engineering programme. These differences are determined by the Dean’s Representative for the Recognition of Prior Learning based on the submitted diploma supplement and may not exceed 30 ECTS credits.

During your studies you will:

  • learn to design advanced heating systems using renewable energy sources (RES), including heat pumps and solar collectors,
  • prepare to implement modern trenchless technologies in the construction and rehabilitation of underground infrastructure,
  • learn the principles of designing and operating specialised and industrial installations, including smoke control ventilation systems,
  • master methods of modelling and automating water and wastewater management processes as well as water treatment systems,
  • gain knowledge of energy auditing, environmental impact assessment and the reliability of engineering systems,
  • learn to manage waste management installations, including energy recovery processes and biogas plants,
  • become familiar with advanced control and regulation systems as well as indoor climate control systems for smart buildings,
  • prepare to obtain full professional construction licences (design and site management without restrictions) in the sanitary engineering specialisation.

Selected courses:

Water and Wastewater Management, Trenchless Technologies, Heating Engineering with Renewable Energy Sources, Refrigeration Systems, Installation Modernisation, Fire and Industrial Ventilation, Energy Auditing, Installation Control and Automation, Biogas Plants, Pipeline Rehabilitation.

Career opportunities:

After graduation, you may pursue a career as:

  • Lead Sanitary Systems Designer – developing complex heating, ventilation and external utility network projects with unrestricted professional qualifications,
  • Construction / Contract Manager – managing the implementation of large-scale and complex sanitary engineering projects,
  • Renewable Energy (RES) and Energy Audit Specialist – conducting energy performance analyses of buildings and designing systems based on heat pumps and photovoltaic technologies,
  • Water and Wastewater Management Expert – supervising advanced technologies in water treatment plants and wastewater treatment facilities,
  • Consulting Engineer – preparing water law documentation, environmental impact assessments and analyses related to trenchless technologies,
  • Research and Development (R&D) Specialist – conducting research on new technologies in research institutes or continuing education in doctoral studies.
