Description

You will acquire advanced knowledge in the design, construction, and prototyping of modern technical systems. You will master integrated CAD/CAM/CAE systems and computer simulation methods (Finite Element Method – FEM), while also becoming familiar with innovative laser, plasma, and additive manufacturing technologies (3D printing). The programme prepares you to implement artificial intelligence solutions in mechanical engineering and manage complex research and development projects.

Admission requirements:

Applicants must hold an Engineer's degree or a Master's degree in Engineering and possess the qualifications and competencies required to undertake second-cycle studies in this field. The admission procedure consists of two stages. In the first stage, the Faculty Admission Committee assesses the applicant's qualifications based on the submitted documents. The second stage may be conducted if the number of qualified applicants exceeds the established admission limit. The Committee may also invite applicants for an interview. For graduates of related fields of study, the Faculty Admission Committee evaluates whether their qualifications and competencies are sufficient to undertake second-cycle studies in this programme based on the submitted documents. Detailed admission rules are published on the University's website.

During your studies:

  • you will learn to design advanced mechanical and mechatronic systems using CAD/CAM tools,
  • you will prepare for conducting research aimed at improving manufacturing technologies and modernising engineering designs,
  • you will master reverse engineering techniques and virtual prototyping of machines and equipment,
  • you will gain advanced knowledge of metrology and quality engineering, including computer-aided geometric measurements,
  • you will learn to analyse and diagnose the technical condition of machines and their components using modern diagnostic methods,
  • you will become familiar with the principles of designing and controlling precision weapon systems and mechatronic systems used in defence technology,
  • you will prepare for managing engineering projects while taking into account legal, economic, and intellectual property aspects,
  • you will develop English language competencies at the B2+ level required for technical communication in international engineering teams.

Selected courses:

Finite Element Method (FEM), Coatings in Mechanical Engineering, Laser and Plasma Technologies, Virtual Prototyping of Machines and Equipment, Surface Modelling, Heat Transfer, Project Management, Control System Identification, Surface Metrology.

Career opportunities:

After graduation, you may pursue a career as a:

  • Chief Design Engineer / Senior CAD Designer – leading design teams in engineering offices and research & development centres,
  • Senior Manufacturing Engineer – implementing innovative production processes in line with Industry 4.0 principles,
  • Metrology and Quality Engineering Expert – working, among others, at the Central Office of Measures Laboratory Campus,
  • Mechanical Systems Diagnostics Engineer – supervising the operation and maintenance of machinery in large industrial plants,
  • Engineering Project Manager – managing the entire product lifecycle from concept to market introduction,
  • Specialist in the automotive or defence industry – designing powertrain systems, autonomous vehicles, or advanced defence systems,
  • Research and Academic Staff Member – pursuing a scientific career through doctoral studies and participation in innovative research projects.
