Description

Gain the skills of the future at the intersection of technology and medicine!

Biomedical Engineering is a programme that applies engineering tools to medicine. It is offered jointly by Kielce University of Technology and Jan Kochanowski University, combining engineering expertise with access to clinical facilities.

The programme responds to the rapid development of modern medicine, diagnostic technologies and advanced materials used in medical devices. During your studies, you will gain competencies in the design of prostheses and implants, biomedical signal and image analysis, and the application of biomaterials and modern technologies—including robotics and optical technologies—in medicine.

During your studies you will:

  • learn the fundamentals of anatomy, physiology and biomechanics,
  • learn to design and prototype prostheses, implants and components of biomedical devices,
  • acquire the skills to analyse and process biomedical signals and medical images,
  • become familiar with the operation of medical equipment and the use of biomedical devices,
  • gain knowledge of vision diagnostics and the application of optical technologies in medicine,
  • learn about biomaterials, including the analysis of their properties and medical applications,
  • learn the fundamentals of programming and the use of IT tools and databases in medical applications,
  • prepare for project-based work and collaboration in interdisciplinary teams.

Practical training:

  • an extensive professional internship programme (approximately 6 months in total) carried out in hospitals, medical technology companies and research laboratories.

Selected courses:

Design and Prototyping of Prostheses and Implants, Nanotechnologies and Nanomaterials, Lasers in Medicine, Biotribology, Measurement Equipment Programming, Medical Equipment and Imaging, Virtual Reality in Medicine, Rehabilitation Robotics, Robotic Surgery, Computer Optometry and Image Analysis.

Career opportunities:

After graduation, you may pursue a career as:

  • Clinical Engineer – operating and supporting medical equipment in healthcare institutions,
  • Medical Equipment and Technology Specialist – implementing, servicing and providing training on medical technologies,
  • Medical Device Designer – designing prostheses, implants and medical devices,
  • Research and Development (R&D) Specialist – developing innovative solutions in the medtech sector,
  • Entrepreneur in the Medical Technology Sector – running your own business in the medtech industry.

Uwaga!

S = M + n·W + 0,1·JP + 0,1·JO

n = 0 dla pozostałych przedmiotów
