Description

You will learn how to design, build and service modern electric and hybrid vehicles, as well as the charging infrastructure that supports them. The programme combines advanced electrical engineering with automotive electronics, power electronics and control systems. You will acquire practical skills in energy storage (battery) management, PLC programming and diagnostics of mechatronic systems in vehicles, preparing you for a career in one of the fastest-growing sectors of modern industry.

Did you know? Kielce University of Technology was the first academic centre in Poland to conduct research on electric vehicles – its researchers co-developed, among others, the electric version of the Fiat 125p!

During your studies you will:

  • learn to design and analyse modern electric drives and power converter systems used in vehicles,
  • prepare to design and operate energy storage systems and fast-charging stations,
  • master the operation of microprocessor-based control systems and communication interfaces used in the automotive industry (e.g. CAN bus),
  • gain knowledge of diagnostics for electric and hybrid vehicles as well as systems ensuring their safe operation,
  • learn to use CAD tools for designing electrical installations and performing computer simulations of dynamic systems,
  • become familiar with material technologies specific to electric vehicles and the principles of electromagnetic compatibility,
  • gain fundamental knowledge of autonomous vehicles and the application of artificial intelligence in transport systems,
  • learn to design microgrids integrated with renewable energy sources (RES).

Practical training:

  • professional internship (4 weeks in total)

Selected courses:

Electrical Engineering and Automotive Electronics, Energy Storage Systems, Electric and Hybrid Vehicle Drives, Power Converter Theory, Vehicle Diagnostics, Power Microgrids, Electronic Circuit Design, Microprocessor Control Systems.

Career opportunities:

After graduation, you may pursue a career as:

  • Electric Drive and Power Supply Systems Designer – designing components for electric cars, city buses and light vehicles,
  • Charging Infrastructure Engineer – designing and supervising the construction of electric vehicle charging stations,
  • Electric/Hybrid Vehicle Diagnostics Specialist – working in authorised service centres and automotive research facilities,
  • Maintenance Engineer – ensuring the reliability of electric vehicle fleets in public transport companies,
  • Automation and Control Systems Designer – implementing intelligent solutions for sustainable transport,
  • R&D Specialist – participating in the development of new battery and propulsion technologies.
